- Arthur (George Thorpe) and Mildred (Marjorie Fielding) Royd invite some friends for a quiet weekend in the country. Among the guests is a middle-aged magistrate too shy to propose to the woman he loves, and young Miranda (Barbara White) - not too shy at all to show her affections for distant cousin Denys Royd (Derek Farr), ten years her senior. The arrival of an abrasive London sophisticate puts the cat among the pigeons, but worse is to come when Arthur and the magistrate find their fishing trip turning into a salmon-poaching spree...

A comedy? - Quiet Weekend review by CB
This film is so worthy and good natured in its comedy it merely induced apathy in me. It's hard to imagine there was ever an audience for this sort of entertainment outside the Home Counties and even there I can't imagine it would inspire much interest or joy.
