Blizzards are a lethal mix of heavy snow, violent winds and freezing temperatures often with visibility down to just a few yards. They can bring cities to a standstill, cause traffic accidents and trap people in cars. But far worse can occur in inaccessible areas. 'Blizzard' describes in chilling detail what happened when a group of experienced mountain climbers were trapped in a blizzard in one of the world's most remote regions and how they made it out alive, and also one man's lucky escape after being stranded in his car for days. But not all survival stories have a happy ending as one couple found out the hard way when they encountered a huge winter storm on a seemingly peaceful day hike.
