Lightning
Lightning is the most powerful electrical force on Earth and around the world it strikes more than eight million times every day. Most lightning never touches the ground but when it does it can have devastating effects. In 'Lightning', hear personal stories from people who have been struck by lightning, watch incredible footage provided by state of the art technology of the sky seemingly on fire during a lightning storm and witness dangerous experiments as scientists and storm chasers try to unravel the mysteries of lightning.
Avalanche
An avalanche can wipe out anyone and anything in its path. Throughout the world more than one million avalanches caused either by natural events or human activity occur each year and they can strike without warning. In 'Avalanche' witness dramatic reconstructions of fatal events and hear the tragic stories of individuals who have been caught in the lethal clutches of an avalanche, follow ski patrols as they use high explosives to clear dangerous buildups of snow, discover how search and rescue teams operate and how scientists trigger avalanches to learn more about their huge forces.
