Synopsis:
In the late 1950s and early 1960s, the BBC broadcast a series of television programmes called Railway Roundabout. With additional footage from the original series, 'Railway Roundabout the End of the Line' presents a selection of highlights to delight existing and new steam enthusiasts. Featured in this programme, produced from original film supplied by the National Railway Museum, is a host of fascinating archive material from the early 1960s.
Amongst the highlights is a visit to Newton Heath Shed, the Marylebone exhibition, historic locomotives at Crewe, the last slip coach to Bicester, two 'Glens' to Fort William and, to reflect the changing railway scene, a trip from Newcastle to Carlisle with a diesel multiple-unit.
