Run of the mill Sci-Fi - Red Planet review by CP Customer
The tired old plot of planet Earth running out of oxygen, and a crew sent to investigate a failed attempt of terra-forming Mars into a habitable planet for human life, is one never really seems to get up to speed. And the additional sub-plot of the friendly robot which malfunctions, and then one by one kills off the majority of the crew, is yet another tired old cliche and nothing that hasn't been done before.
With a good cast and a fairly decent plot-line, this film should have been so much more than the standard run of the mill Sci-Fi that it is. Even quality actors like Terrence Stamp and Carrie Ann Moss make hard work of the sometimes laughable wooden dialogue. And while there are worst ways to spend 90 minutes, don't expect anything you haven't seen before. However if you're looking for a more rewarding alternative, with a superior storyline and better acting try Brian De Palma's Mission To Mars.
