- Stan 'Tookie' Williams, founder and leaderr of notorious Los Angeles gang the Crips, was once the most feared man on the city's streets. His reign of terror was finally brought to an end when he was convicted of multiple murder and sent to the infamous San Quentin prison where, even from his cell on Death Row. his reputation lives on. But when journalist Barbara Becnel is granted an interview, instead of a mindless and brutal thug she finds a man intent on putting his life of violent crime behind him; a man determined to use what he knows to bring to an end the bloodshed of gang warfare.

Unexpected surprise - Redemption review by hya
An amazing film which charts the thoughts and developing friendship of two completely different people.
Jamie Foxx is truly believeable as the man who has survived much in a world which has not shown him much love or kindness.
Lynn Whitfield delivers as the strong single mother who has achieved much, but still has enough compassion to be able to touch by the expected.
For me this was a great mix of excellent performance, words and theme/content.
Well worth watching, it leaves you thinking differently about life and people.
