Bollywood drama about a family trying to come up with the dowry to marry off their daughter to a man who is moving to the UK. The Sharma family consists of four sons and a daughter with only the youngest son, Sunil (Anil Kapoor) and the daughter Geeta (Sudha Chopra) left to marry off. A potential suitor appears for Geeta but the family will need to come up with a 50,000 Rupee dowry to make the match a good un'. The family home may have to be sold because none of the other kids have the cash required and Sunil is a layabout who plays soccer all day. Or is he? Sunil finally, with the family in tatters from infighting, makes a huge personal sacrifice and comes forward with the required sum.
His father at once accuses him of ill deeds so he lies about where it really came from. What has the youngest son done and will the family survive this crisis...
