- First time director Julie Lopes-Curval, inspired by the visual poetry of Edward Hopper, has created a small masterpiece, a delicate, unsentimental ensemble film which evokes comparison to Eric Rohmer and Anton Chekhov. Camera d'Or and starring the legendary French actress Bulle Ogier, Seaside chronicles a year in the lives of the inhabitants of a once-fashionable French seaside resort town. As the seasons change, they fall in and out of love, work at unfulfilling jobs, gamble away savings, and dream of escape. Life changes, yet remains the same.
