- Synopsis:
For Rai Sahib Amar Nath Kapoor (Pran) the only important thing in the world is money and he has no time for his family. While dying his wife leaves their only child Vicky (Amitabh Bachchan) under the care of Munshiji (om Prakash) a childhood friend of Rai Saheb who works for him. Vicky grows up in the love and affection of Munshiji while his father is too busy with his business. In his teens Vicky gets addicted to alcohol and finds it difficult to get rid of the habit. He later falls in love with Meena (Jaya Prada) an artist by profession. But Rai Sahib disapproves of Vicky's choice as Meena is from a middle class family. This conflict creates a wedge between father and son. Rai Sahib disinherits Vicky forcing him to become homeless. Munshiji meets with an accident and is taken to a hospital where he dies and Vicky vows never to drink again. On the other hand, Rai Sahib can't bear the loneliness and takes to suicidal drinking. And meanwhile his business rivals plan to kill him. When Vicky learns of his father's plight and the evil designs of his partners, he comes to his rescue.
