We are on the footplate of A4 Class Locomotive 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley for its magnificent return to one of the most spectacular and testing main line routes in Britain, the Settle and Carlisle Railway. With our footplate crew, Driver Ron Smith and Fireman Pete Hanson assisted by John Wilkinson we head the Cumbrian Mountain Limited from Hellifield to Carlisle. With unique footplate access our crew gives us an insight into the job of the steam loco crew in preparing the Pacific for the trip and how they achieve a spectacular performance from this classic engine on its route over the big hill!
