Synopsis:
This video contains many insights of The Smith's two songwriting talents, mainly Morrisey and Marr. Seen here for the first time is a less than usual guarded, open but cautious Steven Morrissey revealing much unseen, unedited and rare footage along with a very positive and sparky Johnny Marr interview from their heyday. Many consider the Morrisey/Marr writing partnership to be the very best of what England has to offer, on par with Lennon and McCartney. The precise origin of the band's name is unknown, although they stated that it was a reaction against names they considered fancy and pompous.
Somewhat contrarily, in a 1984 interview Morrissey stated, "I Decided to call ourselves The Smiths because it was the most ordinary name, and I think it's time that the ordinary folk of the world showed their faces". Every effort has been made to provide the highest possible picture and sound quality, allowing for the availability of the original masters.
