Disney's irresistible talking puppies are back in an all-new movie that takes them where no Buddy has gone before... the moon! With the help of some stellar new friends, this out-of-this-world adventure is one small step for dog, one giant leap for dogkind. Moving at warp speed, dodging asteroids and more, the Buddies and their two new friends, Spudnick and Gravity, must summon their courage and ingenuity to launch plans for a moon landing and a rocketing trip back home. Will they have the right stuff? Overflowing with intergalactic action and heart, Space Buddies is a celebration of teamwork, loyalty and following your dreams that unleashes a galaxy of Buddy-loving fun your family will enjoy again and again.
Pitched for the very young, most of Space Buddies comes as no surprise. The trailer installed a sense of ‘its so bad it could be good’ for adults, but unfortunately the experience is far worse than expected. Disney have taken a clichéd story of young explorers turned heroes, and transplanted each generic character into the body of a puppy. So you have the token female, bling character and sports loving type amongst others. The puppies themselves are charming as you’d expect and will appeal to any dog lover. They make the actual actors seem wooden in comparison! The quality of this film is not up for debate; the only bonus is that it may distract your youngster for its meagre running time.
