- "The Deep End" delves into the psychology of deception and pushes back the boundaries of the classic suspense thriller. A young man is discovering his sexuality while embarking on a relationship with a slightly older man. His mother discovers and asks the 'older man' to end the relationship - who fails to heed her words; and so begins the start of the 'thriller'? I use the term 'thriller' loosely, because while the film kept me entertained for the duration - it had no thrills and no spills.
The somewhat weak & predictable storyline plods along slowly with no excitement or edge of seat thrills and yet it is strangely compelling. Centering around a video of the young man with his older lover, will his mother succeed in her quest to protect her son?
