The Hero (2004)

In this official Sundance selection, Angolan director Zeze Gamboa (who began his career in public television) presents a cast of protagonists as world-weary and tenacious as his war-torn country. From a wounded war veteran who defends his prosthetic leg from thieves to a mother who searches fruitlessly for her lost children, the film's tapestry of tragic heroes presents a collective tale of hope and a quest for long-term healing.
