Synopsis:
This two part video looks at the true story behind the reign of one of England's greatest ever and longest ruling Monarchs in the nations history. The Queens life has spanned eight decades of a constantly evolving country and enormous change. Episode One In the first of this two part series we aim to re-examine the Queen's early years and look at how duty and sacrifice have shaped the Monarch we see today. Episode Two The 1960's brought anti-establishment ideas and a new Labour government committed to reform. From then to the present day Elizabeth has faced challenges to her reign from all sides.
The once deferential press declared open season on the House Of Windsor and suddenly a very private family was thrust into the often brutal media spotlight. The quest to become a Monarch has been Elizabeth's biggest challenge to date. This video features rare archive footage including the Queen's coronation, the Silver Jubilee, Princess Anne and Princess Margaret's weddings, the wedding of Prince Charles to Diana, as well as extraordinary footage from the life of the Queen.
