Synopsis:
The great Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers star in this fascinating biopic as the greatest ballroom dance team of the first half of the 20th Century: Vernon and Irene Castle. In the years from 1913 to 1917 this phenomenal dancing pair swept the world with their mastery of dancing and quickly became celebrities of high society. When Vernon, who was only hired to be a comic actor, gets stuck in Paris, he meets Irene and they become a dancing pair. Their agent Maggie Sutton (Edna Mae Oliver) gets them the breaks that make Vernon and Irene figures of social change with ballroom dancing regaining popularity and their creation of `the Castle Walk` dance step.
This all-star cast featuring Walter Brennan also has Oscar Hammerstein composing the music.
