- Synopsis:
- 'The Village' follows the life and love of Bert Middleton (Tom Varey) - a young man who never leaves his home town but who witnesses Great Britain transform around him. As the son of John and Grace Middleton (played by John Simm and Maxine Peake) Bert has a unique perspective on a world of boom and bust, the dawn of motor cars and the Charleston, as the roaring twenties explode with energy, freedom and optimism. In the outside world barriers are being broken down and change comes at a terrific pace, and The Village is thrown headlong into modernity.
