Synopsis:
'The Ultimate Crime's series tells the true life stories of the world's most infamous murders. Revealed for the first time on video are the crimes, clues and forensic evidence that brought the most violent murderers to justice.

Political Killings
- Sacco and Vanzetti were two poor Italian immigrants. On April 15th, 1920 a paymaster and his guard were shot dead. The description of the suspects as looking like Italians' was enough for detectives to arrest the two anarchists and put them on trial.
- Former police officer Dan White resigned from his elected office on November 10th, 1978. Just over two weeks later he murdered the gay politician Harvey Milk and Mayor Moscone. What motivated him to commit the double murder?
- Malcolm X was shot dead as he delivered a speech in Manhattan. Was his death racially motivated, or was it due to Malcolm X's break from the Nation of Islam movement?
- Madame Henriette Caillaux was the wife of a powerful French cabinet minister in the Belle Epoque. She murdered the enemy of her husband, La Figaro editor, Gaston Calmette on the eve of the Great War.
Murdered on Duty
- On September 23,1970, Katherine Ann Powers, shot a Boston policeman, in the back as he responded to a bank robbery. Katherine Powers, a radical student, then went on the run and become one of America's ten most wanted.
- Gunter Podola was the last person executed in the UK for the murder of a policeman. He was known to be a fanatical member of the Hitler Youth and was convicted of the murder of Detective Sergeant Purdy. At his trial Podola pleased amnesia in his defence.
- The murder of a policeman in Britain is still a rarity, but on 12th August, 1966 the nation was shocked when three were gunned down in West London. After one of the largest manhunts known in Britain, the killer was tracked down to Epping Forest.
Political Assassinations
- Bobby Kennedy suffered the same fate as his more famous brother when he ran for president in 1968. Was he really assassinated by the lone gunman Sirhan, or was it part of a larger plot involving the Mafia?
- Aldo Moro was widely tipped to be the next president of Italy before his kidnapping in 1978 by the Red Brigade terrorists. When the Italian government refused their demands, Moro was murdered.
- Gandhi was India's greatest leader who preached a doctrine of non-violence to overcome man's struggle for freedom. As he walked to take evening prayers in 1948 he was killed by an assassin.
