Wagner's Dream (2012)

This documentary by Susan Froemke follows theatre director Robert Lepage as he takes on opera's most monumental challenge: a back-to-back production of Wagner's epic Ring cycle, the four-part, 16-hour work that the composer first presented in 1876. The film follows the turbulent five-year journey taken by Lepage and the New York Metropolitan Opera as they set about trying to realise Wagner's dream of a perfect Ring.
