Spending her first night alone in the 16th century mansion she has inherited, orphan Kris Miller is tormented by weird visions and nightmares. Determined to leave first thing in the morning, the unexpected arrival of some friends from college persuades her to stay. But what begins as a fun weekend takes a sinister twist when a stranger turns up on the mansion's doorstep. Claiming an interest in the property, it's not long before his true and evil intent begins to emerge. The uninvited guest is a warlock who, 300 years before, was denied his human sacrifice by one of Kris's ancestors, a New England witch.
