Synopsis:
"World Steam" is a lively survey of today's preservation of yesterday's steam engine heritage. Each video covers different parts of the world with extraordinary selections of main line, industrial, and working steam engines in different regions. This exciting video documentary series features highlights of famous steam engines and exotic locations. "Britain and Western Europe" features famous engines such as the Flying Dutchman and Duchess of Hamilton on the main line. Visit industrial survivors on the Foxfield Railway, the miniature railways at Audley End, and on the romantic Isle of Mull.
Recall action from the Railway Preservation Society's May 1994 gathering in Ireland, including the Slieve Gullion. Visit the beautiful Chemin de Fer du Vivarais in France and relive the glory days of the Fleche D'or running the main line between Calais and Paris. Examine the 760mm Zillertalbahn and the Aachenseebahn rack in Austria and then attend the Plandampf festival in Germany. Finally, visit some charming old steam survivors in Finland.
