Synopsis:
Music student Paul (Bishop) is ecstatic when he is chosen to 'page turn' sheet music for one of his heros, world famous pianist Richard Kennington (Rhys). Paul is entranced by the talented and worldly Richard, and Richard is attracted to the acolyte innocence of Paul, but any development is cut off by Paul's overbearing mother (Stevenson) who drags him off to Barcelona to 'celebrate' her recent divorce. To his delight, Paul discovers that Richard is giving a series of recitals in Barcelona. With unsubtle detective work he tracks Richard down and so begins a long summer of intimate lessons between crisp linen sheets, expertly tutored by the 'maestro'.
Simultaneously, Paul's mother begins to delude herself that Richard is falling in love with her. Paul escapes her clutches and enrols at Juilliard, NYC, to be close to Richard. But his infatuation is soured when he meets Richard's agent and longtime lover, Mansourian (Corduner). As time passes, Paul realises his youth and good looks are currency in the world of New York's artistic elite, and that he possesses an entirely different 'talent' that allows him to get what he wants...

Nothing to get excited about - Food of Love review by Pete W

Spoiler Alert
21/07/2008

A collection of British actors adopt American accents (or in Geraldine McEwan's case a totally incomprehensible accent) for this Spanish film. Fairly weak and predictable story line in which most of the characters are unpleasant in one way or another, meaning that you don't really care what happens to them. Main message of the film? If you don't want your mother to find out you're gay, don't leave your pants behind in another guy's bathroom.
