Unearth

Tedious

(Edit) 20/09/2021

A good film will keep you guessing. Eventually you'll have some answers. Give up any hope of getting those in this. That's fine if a film is well crafted. Unfortunately, none of the scenes are well-directed. The camerawork is often disorientating to the point that the setting is wasted and all atmosphere sacrificed.

The dialogue so clunky that the actors spend most of the time resorting to melodramatic mood-swings, perhaps to inject some life into the scenes, but probably because they don't really know what the movie is about. I can almost guarantee you that you won't either. Something to do with farming. Or mining. Or disease. Or madness. Or love triangles. Or corn on the cob. Who knows.

Hummingbird

No idea who would enjoy this film

(Edit) 24/11/2020

The film is unfortunately let down by cliched directing and a poor script. Can understand why the filmmakers would have wanted to get interesting and talented actors to hold the story and our attention. Unfortunately they ended up with Jason Statham and some other charisma-free zones.

If you like watching an hour and a half of a boiled ham in a suit, looking blank while it repeatedly swigs from a bottle of vodka, then maybe this is the film for you.

I mean, I'm not a fan of bone-crunching violence but even I was desperately wishing for more of that, just so that I would be able to remember something that had happened in the 90mins of my life that I'll never get back.

The Isle

The time you lose watching this will haunt you

(Edit) 18/12/2019

Predictable, cliched; performances that are sometimes fine, sometimes cringe-inducing; snails-pace plot (not that there is a plot), devoid of any tension or atmosphere, unintentionally funny. Occasionally some spooky fog threatens to obscure the image, but unfortunately it never quite does. Clearly lots of work went into realising this dream so it's a shame that there doesn't seem to have been a discerning eye overseeing it. Imagine your local amateur dramatic society performing a one paragraph ghost story for 90 uneventful minutes. That's what watching this is like.
