The Scouting Book for Boys

The Scouting Book for Boys

Excellent film with a twist at the end - just the type I love. The two young leads are wonderful, showing innocence, naivety, jealousy and recklessness. It demonstrates the situations that teenagers find themselves in so easily through their own inexperience and lack of maturity and wisdom which comes with getting older. They think they have the ability to cope as adults when in reality their attitude is so childlike and they are then faced with the consequences of their actions, which leads to the tragic conclusion. Easy to understand and follow, well worth a watch

Sorry I did not enjoy this at all. Found it boring, dark, depressing and really difficult to understand. Couldn't really see the point.

Wow what a film! I really enjoyed this. I was on the edge of my seat throughout and hid my eyes on several occasions. Can this really be true? If so, watch out!!! One of the best scary, thought provoking films I have ever seen. Was just amazed by it all. Extremely well put together with something happening all the time. If it is true, why is this the first I have heard about it? How was this kept such a secret? Think Paranormal Activity, Aliens, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Poltergeist, The Omen and The Exorcist - this film is such a mixture of frightening unexplained situations. I watched it on my own - I wish I hadn't!!

Dead Man Running

Loved it! Just my sort of film. Similar to Lock, Stock and Pulp Fiction where one plot becomes embroiled in another and everything is connected. Action happening all the time, some extremely dodgey characters which you know really exist somewhere in our society. Although its a brilliant bloke's movie it is also one for the ladies I feel, as Danny Dyer, Tamer Hassan and 50 Cent are gorgeous - just the sort of scenery you want to see when you are watching on your own!!!

Fantastic acting by all involved - the scenes with Brenda Blethyn and Phil Davis are pure magic. Lots of comedic scenes just add to the pleasure - this is a real gangster film with only the threat of violence - very clever!!

Loved this film - right up my street. Would never have guessed how it would end. Became extremely anxious for the lead character wondering if he would find himself in a situation which he couldn't get out of - and indeed he did but not how you would expect!! Really tense film where you were willing him to get away. Reminded me of the Saturday matinees at my local cinema back in the 60s where you would scream out at the screen warning your hero just to run as fast as they can. Well worth a watch.

Really clever concept and soon picked up the association with famous children's story - but sorry just not my thing - perhaps I'm just not intelligent enough to appreciate this genre - however, I must say the acting by all was wonderful although a bit too theatrical for my taste - Danny Dyer is brilliant as always - very easy on the eye!!!

This Is Not a Love Song

This is not a love song

Emotional and tense film concentrating on the extremely close friendship between two men. Thought originally that they were in a gay relationship which I think was the intention of the director and to be honest you never really know if they were or not. The shaky and fast moving camera work made it look at times like a home movie but once you got used to this it became more of an attraction than a distraction and made the film all the more watchable. Really enjoyed this film as it shows that we are all capable of such actions and the consequences we could all so easily face. I felt extremely anxious for the two men and the situation they became embroiled in. Reminded me of Deliverance in parts and we all know what a fantastic film that was. When you watch this film put yourself in their place - what would you have done?????
