Surprisingly good cast for a truly mediocre film. It's too Americanised for many UK viewers and the heist theme is worn to the bone. The sound track was quite good though!

An odd mix of the tedious, the sinister and the bizarre. Nicole Kidman was in her element! Unconventional, odd plot, quirky dialogue relentlessly low key. Will be one of those love/hate films I suspect. Note, you'll need patience to get past the first 40 minutes or so.

Based on a true story but could just have easily have been based on a John Grisham novel. What an unlovely place parts of America could be in the 1940's. The African Americans' rights are enshrined in The Constitution, so what took them so long to embrace the Civil Rights Movement? The film has a good cast and a nice momentum to keep you engaged. Very watchable.

Tough, hard edged prison/crime drama. Compelling but a bit over Americanised for my liking. The story line has a credibility gap that could make you think it's actually one of those exceptional true stories film!

Slow to unwind psycho thriller and when it does unwind the emphasis is definitely on the psycho. It's weird! Perhaps there's an obscure allegory somewhere in the plot but someone would need to explain it to me. Some will hate it I'm sure but I found it strangely engaging. Imaginative and with good performances from the two leads.

For once the script writers managed to do their job! Plenty of sharp dialogue, such a refreshing change from Hollywood's usual brain dead efforts. Not always wholly convincing and needs a degree of concentration, but worth the effort.
