Throughout this film is an uncomfortable watch; at one time ludicrously funny and then horrifically sad. We see how a young nazi youth member is groomed into believing the myths and messages spread to justify mass murder, whilst dealing with the reality of his family's lives.

Jo Jo is branded a coward but moves towards redemption through a beautifully drawn and unexpected relationship and a brutal act, no child should experience.

The cast are brilliant, my favourite? Jo Jo's best friend!

This film demonstrates with great wit how susceptible humans are to stereotyping whilst capable of supreme goodness.
