The cast, writer (original Flashman author George MacDonald Fraser) and director Lester should have started a new major film franchise but it didn't work together to create a major film character in Flashman. If you like the novels or the actors there is probably enough to sustain interest but it missed the target and a miss is as good as a mile here.
