A sure sign that some thinking is involved to appreciate film when another reviewer describes a film a "the drabbest" and boringest" (sic) film they have seen...
A superb subtle performance by Julia Garner - no need for the violence or sexual abuse to be portrayed on the screen with performances like these . It won't have you sitting on the edge of your seat, but it will leave you thinking about what you have watched - but only if you have the insight to be able to do so......
Yes - it is truly awful. Not funny, not compelling, dated stereotype of Nazis and impossible to see the point of it all.
Give it a miss - we stopped watching after 30 minutes, and we're not one the habit of doing that.....
I usually enjoy films reviewed as "boring" but this was the exception. A string of depressing vignettes going nowhere. Profoundly unsatisfying with no discernible plot. No really - don't bother....!
Gentle and delightful with Robert Redford at the top of his game, supported by the excellent Sissy Spacek. Thee fact that Elizabeth Moss makes what is almost a cameo appearance tells you what a classy production this is! No violence, no stunts and a sublime jazz infused soundtrack. And any film which uses "Blues Run the Game" by Jackson C Frank gets my vote!! Superb!
An all time record - I stopped watching it after 5 minutes! What a load of mindless pap, designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator.....
Oh - I thought the first film was uplifting and brilliant and I loved the music; this is just terrible - don't bother!!!
It's becoming bit of a rule of thumb that if some reviewers here describe a film as "boring" then we're going to like it!! This is a perfectly crafted gripping political thriller which had us engrossed. If your preference for entertainment is to see people being blown to pieces then stay away! Steeped in the history of US political scene in the early 70s, this perfectly recreates the era, with superb performances by its start studded cast. Don't be bored, be informed!!
An absolute gem of a film - taut narrative and well drawn characters played by excellent actors at the top of their game. Short and clever with a superb twist at the end - don't miss this one if you are into quality thinking peoples' films!!
Hard to imagine why actors of the calibre of Kenneth Branagh and Simon Callow would want to associate themselves with this appalling, juvenile and singularly unfunny film. We gave up on it after 30 minutes, and that was too long. Don't bother!
We don't often give up on a film, but after 20 minutes, we had lost the plot - and so had the actors, I fear!! Not a clue what was going on there.........
Sometimes films which are described boring or incomprehensible in reviews end up being the films we enjoy, but not this one. We lasted 50 minutes,,,,,
There are better easy of spending 2 1/2 hours!!
