The Founder

A well made film but what an awful 'real' story !

(Edit) 28/12/2023

The film was well made - nicely shot and a good script (apart from one thing which I will come to in a moment).

If I am completely honest I am not sure that Micheal Keaton was the best person to cast for the main character in the film - I really didn't like him - or maybe it was his character - the longer the film went on the less I liked him ! - so maybe he did an excellent job. I just wanted the film to take a different course than it did - usually good triumphs over evil.

And to come back to my earlier point I wish the script writers had covered the negotiations between Ray and the McDonald brothers a little better. The way the film portrayed it the lawyer representing the McDonald bros should be de-barred and never allowed to practice again as well as being sued to high heaven !

In summary an excellent but very sad film - more Sunday night than Friday night viewing !

Condorman

A cheesy romp

(Edit) 06/10/2023

Agree with the previous reviewer this movie hasn't aged well..... I really wanted to like it. Its clear that from the stunts and locations that this was an expensive movie to make. I wish they hadn't filmed it in video though like a lot of movies filmed in the 80s were the quality and enjoyment is really reduced by this. I agree with the comments of the previous reviewer about the casting, dialogue etc... Ultimately I feel this film was badly executed and didn't reach it's potential. If made again today would probably be much better.

Big

A great film - recommended

(Edit) 02/08/2023

A wonderful feel-good family classic movie. I love these 80s movies. Superb acting as usual by the wonderful Tom Hanks. The story was really well written and put together and it was really nicely shot. A really great enjoyable film - excellent for a rainy Sunday afternoon !

History of the World: Part 1

Awful

(Edit) 04/07/2023

really disappointing. I think I laughed at one joke but the plot and script was just really disappointing and I am afraid to say it but boring.

The Score

A great story

(Edit) 04/07/2023

A super suspenseful story and superb acting which you would expect from such a famous cast. My only criticism would be that the general setting of most of the scenes are quite dark - which is not quite to my own personal taste. Would love to have seen a part II to this film. Would recommend this film.

The Trip to Spain

Loved this

(Edit) 21/09/2020

I love this franchise ! Had to order the CD via here Cinema Paradiso as I dont have the Sky subscription after the rights were bought out (away from BBC2). I love Coogan's and Brydon's impressions - both incredibly talented !!

When Coogan does his Mick Jagger with the associated body posture, grimacing facing et des lèvres boudeuses, the cherry on the icing is the flick rasp clap of his hands held above his left shoulder - head tilted slightly askance, lips pouting and a throaty pitched murmur quivering - has me in fits of giggles.....

I love the drive through the gorgeous Spanish countryside and the restaurants where they eat their lunches and the plates you see - the food is out of this world - I would love to repeat this trip and visit the locations mentioned ! I also love how Brydon and Coogan draw on history to illuminate some of their conversation at the appropriate moment and also some lovely anecdotes from the world of celebrity.... I didnt know that after Sean Connery left his first meeting with Cubby Broccoli and Harry Saltzmann for the role of Bond - they observed him crossing the road and remarked that he walked like a panther.

I watched the CD in two sittings - watching 3-episodes in eat siting.....

Miranda: Tinto Brass

A charming and sexy film

(Edit) 27/11/2018

Serena Grandi was wonderful in this film - physically a very beautiful and sexy woman. I watched this with my girlfriend and she really liked it saying it made a nice change to see a woman in the powerful position for a change.
