Classroom 6

Nothing new

(Edit) 07/08/2019

Absolutely nothing new to add to the found footage genre. Creepy setting, small number of people, hand held footage, lame backstory, people coming to investigate, the usual ramison happenings, just nothing new and nothing of interest.

Ok acting but just not effective in being creepy or scary in the slightest.

Hatchet 4: Victor Crowley

Good old fashioned slasher fun

(Edit) 28/07/2019

Just like something from back in days when slasher films were awesome. No complicated trying to be clever script with some ridiculous twist or poignant politically correct message just good old fashioned fun!!

Movie starts out great and gorey then it's the mandatory 20 minutes of not very exciting story line, then turn up the gore, keep it going, the end!!

And as you would expect it's cheesy, stupid and funny too. Great splatter entertainment, the only thing different with this slasher compared to ones from the 80s or 90s is it's missing boobs ??

Attack of the Adult Babies

Good British horror comedy

(Edit) 25/07/2019

For those of your who don't know this is directed by the guy who plays Paddy, the vet in Emmerdale, Dominic Brunt. He is a huge horror fan and has directed and even starred in quite a few horror films now.

As for what the film is like; low budget, mad gory fun. The acting isn't bad, the FX are damn good apart from the occasional dodgy CGI here and there but it is all enjoyable, weird, gross fun from start to finish.

Oh and it also stars Charlie Chuck! Donkey!!!!!

The Guilty

Amazing performance

(Edit) 24/07/2019

What a great film, gripping from the start!

It amazes me how well this film is done considering the entire film is shot in 2 rooms with about 6 cast members and yet it seems like you have seen everything that you have actually only heard as part of a phone conversation, brilliant stuff.

Terra Formars

Sci Fi madness

(Edit) 24/07/2019

Not your usual Sci-Fi fair, mind you if you've seen any of director Takashi Miikes' other films that shouldn't surprise you. He is known for his graphic horror such as Audition, Ichi the Killer and the complete madness that is Visitor Q. But he has also done family superhero with Zebraman, a musical The Happiness of the Katakuris and the epic action of 13 Assassin's and Blade of the Immortal amongst a whole host of other stuff, if you haven't already, go and check some of this stuff out.

Anyway back to Terra Formars, it's certainly not a Sci-Fi masterpiece but it's is very entertaining and probably not what you would expect

*******Mild spoilers ahead********

So in the future earth is over crowded so let's make Mars habitable for humans. Some stuff is done to start it off and then some folks are sent to see how is going and tidy the place up a bit, but oh dear something weird has happened. Here comes some epic/bizarre/really unexpected fighting scenes and just general madness that is funny, violent and justs nuts!!

Well worth a watch if you just want some entertaining nonsense.

Creepy

Intriguing thriller

(Edit) 14/07/2019

Just watched this 2016 Japanese movie "Creepy"

It's a slow paced movie, no real gore of action but I loved it. As seems to be the norm for Japanese films it has its off kilter madness moments, we're not talking "Visitor Q" or "Uzumaki" madness,no where near that, more of a subtle weirdness.

Great acting and beautifully shot considering the rather drab looking location the film looks great.

Good thriller that is very entertaining from start to finish directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa and as the title implies, it certainly has its creepy moments.

Cold Pursuit

Liam Neeson not playing an ex military/special forces agent!

(Edit) 14/07/2019

Liam Neeson plays an ex special...... oh no wait a minute nope he is actually just some guy with a kinda regular job, well I didn't see that coming!

I was expecting the usual action/redemption type thing that he is usually in but was pleasantly surprised by this slower paced but interesting movie. There is something about it that just keeps your interest throughout.

Good movie, nothing overly exciting but a good watch.

Destroyer

Strange slow burner

(Edit) 08/07/2019

As is usual with me, I knew nothing about this film what so ever apart from it has Nicole Kidman in it.

I'm a big fan of Nicole's recent work she's in a ton of strange films playing some weird and wonderful characters and this is no different.

There is a certain realism to this film that is very refreshing, no elaborate glorified gun battles or fight scenes, people getting tired when running and people looking dog rough, good to see.

A slow burn film but kept my interest through out. Great acting as well as an interesting story. Not a must see film by any means but a good film worth a watch.

The Purge: Election Year

Good fun

(Edit) 09/07/2019

Not as good as the first but then how could it be? The first was something new and novel but we all know what's going on now.

Still a good film but not great. Some good set pieces but also some very generic weak parts, you know young, good looking women scantily clad wandering about in very stylised outfits with very scripted speeches and incredibly clean styled weaponry not being harassed by any other purgers and just being able to do what they like, line having a little dance in the street. It would have been nice to see so more realistic women but hey that probably wouldn't look so good on the trailer for getting people to watch the movie.

A little predicable too but then what would you expect really.

Good entertainment with some good violent scenes as you'd want from a movie like this.

Bad Times at the El Royale

It wasn't at all bad

(Edit) 04/07/2019

A very interesting film. I knew nothing about it at all apart from who was in it.

A really good film from start to finish, with some great acting too. At times slow but on no means in a bad way, kept my interest all the way through.

Great cast and great script and beautifully shot, it looks great.

Well worth a watch.

Unbreakable

Tedious

(Edit) 04/07/2019

Yep it was original, yep I didn't guess what would happen next but equally I didn't care.

Really didn't do it for me at all. It was recommended by several friends but I was glad when it was over to be honest.

Some good concepts and ideas but I just couldn't get into it, oh and some very strong colour references at times which I found distracting.

The House That Jack Built

Brutal but good

(Edit) 27/06/2019

A very intriguing film, well acted, looks lovely but be prepared it gets very brutal.

Certainly not a film for everyone but with this director what would you really expect? If you liked his previous films I'd certainly give it a watch, if you hated them probably best avoid.

I really liked the plot and the pacing for the first 3/4 of the film but not so much towards the end, could just be me. Certainly different from the norm and very interesting viewing.

Mom and Dad

Entertaining watch

(Edit) 27/06/2019

Great original idea and really quite well presented.

Nicholas Cage is good, doesn't quite go crazy enough for my liking but hey you can't have everything. A good fun film, most of the violence happens off camera and isn't very graphic which fits the film well.

There is also an appearance by Lance Henriksen, if you don't know who he is it doesn't matter if you do he makes a welcome addition to this movie.

Get the beer and snacks, put your feet up and enjoy.

Christopher Robin

Pooh and eeyore were good

(Edit) 25/06/2019

Nothing over exciting, not sure how kids would cope as there is far too much time spent with nothing in particular going on.

Wasn't terrible, wasn't brilliant just ok.

Pooh and his friends looked great, and were certainly the best part of the film and personally I preferred the young Christopher Robin to Ewans adult Christopher Robin. The older version just seemed like an actor going through the motions and was just a bit lack luster.

Godzilla

Zilla looking awesome

(Edit) 13/06/2019

Great film if your are after a good action film with some cool monsters in it.

After the 1990s version were Godzilla had been on some sort of diet plan I was very relieved to see a far more true to the original Godzilla on the screen, and man he's a handsome beast. You do have to wait a fair time to see him and then you don't see most of his first major fight but I suppose they wanted to keep that for the end.

A bit slow to get going and only Godzilla from the original monsters fighting against some new flying thing, would have been great to see him against one of his old adversaries but you can't have everything.

Good solid entertainment, not a classic Godzilla film but man he looks great!!!
