I was apprehensive that the makers of this film series would not be able to recreate the drama of the original Das Boot film.
However, they have done serious credit to the original, while expanding upon it too.
The plot is divided between action at sea,and in port, with remarkably good performances from a largely unknown cast.
The gritty reality of life serving in a U.Boat is portrayed well, and the action set pieces are thrilling too.
Period and technical detail appears to be spot on and well researched, with the characters of the boats crew in particular being examined.
For anyone interested in events surrounding WW2,and perhaps the U.Boat phenomina in particular, this series is a must to view.
I look forward to the next series, which is already in production I hear.
Another good performance from Jessie Buckley in a rather twee plot, but what a remarkably good singer she is too!!!
The soundtrack is made up of song's from and sung by ,some well known singers, but Jessie has singer and writing credits for many of the other song's!.
She surely has another career opportunity as a singer.
If you like country music, this film is a treat for the soundtrack alone.
