Synopsis:
The movie begins with a rich businessman Shekhar Gupta going in for a stage dance show with his friend where he gets into love at first sight with the actress of the show Damini. Damini is characterized as a highly moralistic girl who never lies. Rishi gets his parents ready for their marriage although his father Mr. Gupta had got him engaged with his Business rival Bajaj's daughter. The refusal sets a business rivalry in the two families. On the other hand Rishi kapoor's family have a disliking for her as of her poverty background. She is separated from the family and merely made engaged in the household chores.
The only companion she has is the maid Urmi who has been working at their home from years. On Holi Damini finds Urmi missing and on a bit of searching catces site of his Brother in law and a group of his friends raping her. She and her husband are the only. After the rape Urmi is thrown away at the road.Due to the involvement of Bajaj and the Media. A case is filed against the rapists. Rishi kapoor and his family pressurize her to lie that They were not at home on the day. But when Damini comes to know the current state of Urmi who is badly injured in the hospital without any care deciedes to go for the truth. The Gupta family appoints Barrister Chaddha (Amrish Puri)who on understanding the situation proves Damini to be Mentally ill. The court case is ended in the favour of the Gupta Family. In the mental hospital Damini is tried to be killed but she runs away and lands up to an alcoholic Advocate Govind who on Damini's provoking gets ready to fight the case and finally wins after a series of some powerful dialogues and scenes.
