Brilliant - Well made classic Horror - Devil review by CS

Spoiler Alert

I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this, as some of Shayamalan's output has been absolutely brilliant and some of it really naff! But this isn't Directed by him, just co-produced and apparently based upon one of his stories. Not wishing to give too much away, the general synopsis above is a brief, very brief, description of events and story. Although not entirely original and in a way coming across slightly as a bit of a Stephen King style story, this has all the right elements of thriller, horror and whodunnit that one wants from such a film. A 15 certificate ensures it's not too gory or scary, but what I liked about this is it's a bit of a whodunnit, keeping you guessing and also scary but not too much, more of a supernatural thriller than horror! The actors give a decent enough performance and the direction is good, not a big megabucks movie and i didn't recognise any of the names of the actors, but some of the faces looked familiar! I really enjoyed watching this and after some of the really awful big blockbuster movies that have failed to deliver in recent years, this makes a strong and refreshing change!

Very well made horror movie - Devil review by CD

Spoiler Alert

I have watched this film a couple of times over the past 5 years. The acting is good and the plot and script work well. It does not deteriorate into obvious horror territory but slowly builds tension gradually convincing the policemen that all is not as a normal homicide incident. The lift itself and the limited scope for any doubt that the murderer is one of the passengers makes the finale scarier. Overall a clever film. Highly recommended.
