Nyota, a solitary lioness, is tasked with providing for her young son. Living outside pride society means that Nyota and Moja tread a dangerous path and Moja must rely on only his mother's skills as a hunter, but as the harsh season continues the odds are stacked against this small, brave family.

Swift is a tiny meerkat pup. She's been born into the Kalahari Desert following one of the worst droughts to ever hit this corner of Southern Africa. Food is scarce and Swift's family are hungry. Their desperation will lead them into danger - busy roads and rival meerkat families.
