Synopsis:
This video will take you on a tour of 18 of South Africa's top gold courses. Not just where to play, but what to expect when you arrive and where to stay after your round. On each course, the local professionals, including John Bland and Dale Hayes, will take you through two of their favourite holes. South Africa is blessed with more than 400 golf estates and courses. Parklands, links-style and cliff top; they are all here. From the home of 'Africa's Major', the Nedbank Golf Challenge at the Gary Player Country Club, we move to the traditional yet delightful Zwartkop Country Club near Pretoria.
In Johannesburg experience the lush tree-lined courses at Glendower, Randpark and Royal Johannesburg and Kensington. Down to KwaZulu-Natal to the renowned Durban Country Club and the rolling hills of Cotswold Downs. Play the coastal courses of Zimbali and Princes Grant offering great visual and playing challenges. Just inside the Eastern Cape the Wild Coast Sun, each hole a heady distraction. Drive past Port Elizabeth and take in the magnificent Jack Nicklaus designed St Francis Links. Down to the Garden Route with its spectacular 'high in the hills' courses at Pezula and Simola with stunning ocean and lagoon views from Tee to Green. Then to George and the world renowned Fancourt Estate, host to the President's Cup in 2003, and alongside, the new golfing gem of Kingswood. See the whales at Hermanus. And just down the road, Arabella alongside a delightful lagoon. Within sight of Table Mountain take on the links-style course of Atlantic Beach before negotiating the fairways and vineyards of the Steenberg Golf Club. This is a video that every golfer coming to South Africa needs to experience. Whether a single handicapper or an occasional player, South Africa will spoil you with not just its great scenery and world renowned hospitality but with some golfing gems that are just too good to miss.
