Synopsis:
Hassil is the story of the love of Anirudh (Jimmy Shergill) and Niharika Singh (Hrishitaa Bhatt) two students at the Allahabad University. The story has the flavour of a small town romance and is set against the background of Allahabad University student politics. The combined pressures of the small town society and the opposition of their families creates hurdles for them. At another level Anirudh has won the favour and friendship of one more student, Ram Vijay Singh (Irfan Khan) an important political figure at the University, whom Anirudh had once helped to hide his opponents, a gesture that probably saved Ran Vijay's lifo. Niharika however, is always very wary of Ran Vijay.
She doesn't approve of Anirudh's association with him. Ran Vijay's main rival is Gauri Shankar Pandey (Ashutosh Rana) existing President of the Student's llimin.The power struggle between the two factions, progresses 81 the background of the film with its fair share of violence and rivalry. Ran Vijay manages to destroy all opposition to him self and becomes the undisputed student political leader. Ran Vijay (incomes both protector and friend to Anirudh. However unknown to Anirudh Ran vijay secretly covets Niharika and manages to get Anirudh out o! Allahabad hut Anirudh senses something is amiss end comes back to stop Allahabad only to find out that the wedding has been fixed between Nihaiika ami Ran Vijay the person who had apparently stood by him through thick and thin has turned out to be his greatest betrayer. Nihar ika and Anirudh run away togehther can Anirudh and Niharika get past a foe as formidable as Ran Vijay? The answer is revealed in a stunning climax Sequence which occurs against the backdrop of the Malta Kumbh Mela.
