Synopsis:
The Memphis Belle achieved legendary status as the first U.S. Army Air Forces heavy bomber to successfully complete 25 missions over Europe and return to the United States. ?The Memphis Belle: A Story of a Flying Fortress? is an incredible 1944 documentary film which ostensibly provides an account of the final mission of the infamous B-17 Bomber. The film begins at an airbase in England as the 324th squadron of the 91st heavy bombardment group prepare for battle in Germany. Having been briefed we see them, and other B-17s, leave England on a mission to bomb Wilhelmshaven, Germany. The tension grows as the Memphis Belle and her brave crew head deeper and deeper into enemy territory.
The dramatic 16mm color film of actual aerial warfare affords the viewer an unparalleled insight into what it was like onboard a B-17 Flying fortress during the heat of battle, making this a must have for all have for all aviation enthusiasts.
