Synopsis:
Authentically local in its setting but universal in its themes of passion, jealousy and revenge, "Honeytrap" is a tragic teen romance set in South London and inspired by true events. Having recently arrived from Trinidad and full of fairy tale fantasies, fifteen-year-old Layla (Jessica Sula) is quickly swept off her feet by self-styled gang leader Troy (Lucien Laviscount). However in the dog-eat-dog world where being Tro'ys girl buys her envy as well as status, social outsider Shaun (Ntonga Mwanza) becomes her only true friend. When Troy discards her, Layla is left in ruins. She vows to rebuild herself as a hardened player in order to win him back and Shaun becomes a pawn in her game.
Soon the forces she has set in motion are escalating out of control into a fatal love triangle.

Who knows? - Honeytrap review by DJ

Spoiler Alert
12/04/2020

Who knows whether it's any good?! Yet another film made in the second decade of the 21st century that does not have the courtesy to include subtitles on its DVD, so cutting it off from 15% of its potential audience. As it happens, it's the second CP disk I have received this week with contempt for 1 in 7 of its customers. Cinema Paradiso is no help, as it fails to indicate the presence (or not) of subtitles on any of the disks it offers. This movie in particular features characters with strong colloquial accents and quick-fire delivery, so even my partner - with sound hearing - was lost without them. After 15 minutes of fruitless effort, we gave up. Frankly...infuriating
