Synopsis:
Tal Afar, some 40 miles from the Syrian border had been a prosperous trading centre until it was taken over by Abu Musab Zarqawi's network of Al-Qaeda insurgents. They had made life increasingly difficult for the residents with bombings, kidnappings and executions. It is May 2005 and with an election due later in the year, the US Army along with members of the Iraqi Security force attempt to clear the town of insurgents. For three days, street battles take place as the Americans go house to house destroying arms caches and insurgent hideouts and then holding the buildings secure.
This is the story of the unrelenting battles that took place in an attempt to suppress the terrorists and return the city to some semblance of normality; to give the people some hope for the future. With actual combat footage, archive material and factual re-enactments, this is a very powerful account of those difficult days.
