Synopsis:
Mors Elling (Mothers Duckling) is a Norwegian film from 2003 directed by Eva Isaksen and based on the second novel of "Elling" - Fugledansen of Ingvar Ambjørnsen. Elling is the second film in the trilogy of Elling, but comes chronologically first in the series. Elling has lived with his mother all his life. They have an excellent labor divide: mother takes care of all the practical things and Elling takes care of theoretical things. He spends time in the apartment to read books and watch the neighbors from the living room window - he did never feel the need to associate with other people in flesh and blood.
His enthusiasm is therefore limited when mother suddenly decide that they need to go for a trip to Majorca. But he goes because a woman on his mother's age needs a strong man at her side. Elling refuse to realize that his mother is not only old but also ill. In fact, she is seriously ill. In her lifes last trip she tries to get Elling to understand that life is greater than their togetherness in the apartment.
