Nero's Golden House (2001)

Filmmaker Phil Grabsky investigates the notorious emperor's grandest creation. After Rome burned to a cinder in 64 AD, the 26-year old Nero turned tragedy into triumph by ordering the construction of the most ostentatious building on earth - the Domus Aurea or Golden House. Despite its aesthetic beauty, the building became renowned for acts of violence and sexual depravity. Drawing on archaeological evidence, comprehensive historical research, and the wonders of CGI,Grabsky attempts to separate the man from the myth and figure out just what went on inside Nero's Golden House.
