- Synopsis:
'Sailor Moon' is a cartoon story about a clumsy, crybaby 14-year-old girl named Serena. Life for Serena is pretty much the same as that of any young adolescent from any suburban town. Until one day she suddenly meets her destiny. Her universe is thrown into chaos when she makes the acquaintance of a strange messenger, a black cat named Luna. Serena learns that she is one of an elite group of warriors destined to find the lost princess of the moon. Serena and the other warriors (the sailor scouts) are champions of justice and must defend the earth and indeed the whole human race from the forces of evil. Luna the cat gives Serena some transformation magic and superpowers, which transform Serena into the pretty soldier Sailor Moon - ready to make her stand against evil. This cartoon, created by Naoko Takouchi, is already a phenomenon on the other side of the Atlantic. The classic struggle between good and evil takes a different shape, away from Titans and Knights, in the form of the "American" girl next door. Children, between the age of 6 and 11 are probably most likely to enjoy the adventures of this heroine. A few moral messages, about the excess of modern society and its effect on teenagers in particular, pepper this rather classic Japanese production. Episodes Comprise:
