Heera (Amitabh Bachchan) and Gouri (Rachana Banerjee) grew up as childhood friends but are separated when Gouri is sent to the city for her education. When she returns she is well qualified and rejects Heera's proposal of marriage as she feels they are no longer a good match. This rejection strikes Heera like a bombshell but the way he accepts her decision with great dignity causes Radha (Soundarya), a socially aware city girl comes to the village, to fall in love with him. However their marriage takes place against their parents' wishes and an enraged Bhanu Pratap (also Amitabh Bachchan), Heera's father, throws his son out of the house and the couple ate forced to start from scratch. Nevertheless they go on to become very successful and are blessed with a son and in time Heera is reconciled with his father. However they are once more put to the test when Deshraj (Mukesh Rishi), sent to jail because of Bhanu Pratap, plans to kill him using his innocent grandson and succeeds in convincing people that it was Heera who planned to kill his father... - Actors:
