Synopsis:
Includes three programmes which look at the world of restored steam trains in Britain:

The London Midland and Scottish Railway
This programme takes a look at the thousands of steam engines operated by the London Midland and Scottish Railway until nationalisation in 1948. The programme includes the Jinty Class 3F small tank locos, the Class 7P Royal Scot express passenger locos, many members of the once 842-strong Class 5 locos commonly known as Black 5s.
Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Steam Railway
This restored line runs alongside the beautiful Cotswold Hills and is a delight for the many visitors who discover its nostalgic magic each year. There was a time when this line linked the historic town of Stratford-Upon-Avon with the elegant, Georgian Cheltenham Spa, taking passengers on a journey through some of the loveliest countrysides to be found anywhere in the world. A picturesque stretch of the line has been preserved and steam engines are now a regular and treasured sight amongst the rolling Cotswold hills. This programme takes you back to the golden age of steam, travelling between the GWR's headquarters at Toddington, to the authentically renovated Cotswold country station at Gotherington. As well as the spectacular landscape, you'll see some of the finest locomotives to be found anywhere in preservation, including wildlife artist David Shepherds magnificent Black Prince.
The Isle of Wight Steam Railway
Railways have operated on the Isle of Wight for more than a century. Victorian, Edwardian and more recent engines have all been restored, with today's passengers travelling in stylish carriages and for the dedicated steam enthusiast or the captivated visitor alike, the magic of this line is unforgettable. This is one of the most unusual of the preserved lines and this programme features its former London Underground carriages.
