The German Sisters (1981)

German drama directed by Margarethe Von Trotta. Sisters Marianne and Juliane (Barbara Sukowa and Jutta Lampe) have both dedicated their lives to fighting for women's rights, but with radically different approaches. Juliane works as a feminist journalist while her sister opts to join a violent terrorist group to fight for her cause, abandoning her husband and son to do so. The sisters' paths continue to cross throughout their lives, as Juliane feels compelled to try to help her sister, despite their differences.
