Synopsis:
This compilation includes six programmes covering different stylistic periods in the art world. 'Light in the Darkness' covers the medieval, church-inspired works of Giotto and Masaccio, while 'A New Dawn' chronicles the beginnings of the Renaissance under Michelangelo and Titian. 'The Age of Splendour' charts the Baroque period, featuring such artist as Rembrandt, Rubens and Velazquez, and 'Reason and Enlightenment' features the Rococo works of Watteau, Chardin and Hogarth.
'Passion and Revolution' covers the Romantic landscape art of Turner and Constable, while 'A New Vision' traces the Post-Imprressionist age in which artists including Monet, Renoir, Cezanne, Seurat and Van Gogh came to prominence.
