A fascinating account of aspects of military and social life in the Forest during the years 1939 to 1945 with previous untold stories and anecdotes, rare archive footage, re-enactments, original photographs and aerial views of the forest and coastline. The New Forest was used as a vast military training ground, it had a density of USAAF and RAF airfields and was pivotal in the building up to the D-Day campaign. Regarded as one of Europe's top visitor destinations, the New Forest is rich in history. This programme takes the viewer on a voyage of discovery back into the 20th century history.
