- Synopsis:
The village of Shillingbury is a tranquil place, staunch in the established old-fashioned values of rural England. It is a picture postcard place of honeysuckle and home-made strawberry jam teas, fine thatched roofs, a timbered pub and contented folk. A place where God's in his heaven and all's right with the world.
1. The Shillingbury Blowers
Young successful musician Peter Higgins and his wife Sally decide to get away from the hustle of London and buy a cottage in Shillingbury. Pride of the village is the Brass Band, conducted by Old Saltie who doesn't take well-meaning advice in his stride.
2. The Shillingbury TinkerIf money is not the root of all for Shillingbury's tinker, Cuffy, then it's certainly a prophet of change and not necessarily for the better.
3. The Shillingbury Melon
A prize melon and enforced retirement provide the unlikely catalyst which gives Pete and his father-in-law a common interest in gardening. Their approach, however, is vastly different.
4. The Shillingbury Cloudburst
When one tasty rumour follows another certain people in Shillingbury become convinced that the permissive society has finally reached the village - and they don't like it one bit!
5. The Shillingbury Legend
Entente cordiale comes to Shillingbury when the village is "twinned" with a French village in the Dordoyne. For one Frenchman at least nostalgia has ceased to be a thing of the past.
6. The Shillingbury Miracle
Curious midnight manifestations convince Jake that his farmhouse is bedevilled by ghosts. Can this be the Shillingbury miracle Reverend Norris had in mind when bemoaning dwindling congregations?
7. The Shillingbury Daydream
In a crisis the good people of Shillingbury always rally to a cause. Unexpectedly it takes some of them to Buckingham Palace.- Actors:
