Old man and boy rob vault - The Trust review by AS
After the first five minutes maybe you think this is going to be a comedy, but the humour evaporates as rapidly as the plot. What might have been an original 'cops-turned-bad' tale turns into yet another 'drilling-through-the-floor-to-get-to-the-loot' caper. Cage's characterisation verges from edgy to loony (nothing new there then); while Wood simply smokes a lot, seemingly in a desperate attempt to make himself look macho rather than a cardboard cut-out. Jerry Lewis makes an appearance for no purpose whatsoever. Script and direction are as dull as the locations. The title is a mystery.

Another Nick Cage dud - The Trust review by Alphaville
Another boring mismatched cop-buddies movie (Nicholas Cage and Elijah Wood). The drug plot is a cliché, the drama non-existent and all attempts at humour fall flat. The jaunty music manages to make it seem even worse. In 2016, how did this ever get made? Even with a sparse running time of 88 minutes, it’s 88 minutes too long.

A masterpiece (by Nicolas Cage standards) - The Trust review by AER
An interesting heist movie set in Las Vegas, this sees Nicolas Cage playing a cop who is in charge of the evidence locker for the LVPD. His friend Elijah Wood is a meek, depressed detective - they seem an unlikely duo to pull off a robbery when they uncover a stash of loot in the suburbs. Both actors embody great roles and as the film develops their characters come to the fore. What at first looks like a low-key comedy turns into a bleak tragedy. This is a reminder of how good Nicolas Cage used to be, and Elijah Wood as brilliant as ever. Recommended if you like low-key crime dramas, this was interesting and entertaining crime diversion. Loved it.
