Legend has it that the world of ours is really three worlds: the world of the humans, the world of Man-Beasts (the Jyujinkai), and the nightmare world of the Monster Demons (the Makai) who take on earthly forms to pour their mighty energies into the bodies of human girls. Every three thousand years comes the superfiend Chojin, whose destiny it is to unite these three worlds into The Land of Eternity. As Amano, from the world of the Man Beasts, battles with the forces of the Monster World in his quest for knowledge, he realises what the Chojin's Land of Eternity will be... a sickening place of horrendous violence, uncontrollable lusts and supernatural forces beyond the imagination. Legend of the Demon Womb continues our hero Amano's quest to seek out the Super fiend, Chojin. The rather shy Nagumo, a high school student, has already been experiencing some twists in his personality, but can this clumsy kid be the Chojin? Why is his good friend Takeaki, also his cousin, acting so strangely since his blood transfusion? Will Myunhi succeed in his evil manipulation of Takeaki? A film to watch once. - Urotsukidoji: Legend of the Overfiend / Legend of the Demon Womb review by DC
"Freaks" is a 1930s film about circus freaks, featuring real circus freaks, about which the film critic Mark Kermode once said "It's the sort of film that everyone should watch once, but you have to wonder about people who want to watch it over and over again." I feel the same way about this film.
The parade of sex, violence, sexual violence and sexually violent demons is absolutely not for everyone, but if you want to know how far a film can go and still be released, well, here you are. "Legend of the Demon Womb" is less extreme than "Legend of the Overfiend." This makes it easier to watch, but also somehow less worth watching: if you're watching films for shock value, why bother with the film that is less shocking?
